Medical Administrator

The Cadets are looking for a Medical Administrator to provide professional services for our performing arts organization for this summer. Our student athletes include 154+ brass, percussion and guard performers ages 16-22.

In the role of Medical Administrator, you will report directly to the Corps Manager. You will also work closely with the Operations Manager, Caption Heads, and Corps Director to facilitate and manage the health needs of the corps membership for spring training and summer tour.

Responsibilities

  • Travel with The Cadets during spring training and on summer tour; managing the day-to-day operations of the medical needs of the drum corps.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the medical program required for a drum corps including educational programs and counseling for member-athletes.
  • Provide patient education in the areas of illness prevention and care to include concussion management and more.
  • Evaluate medical history of all members, staff and volunteers.
  • Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would enhance the benefit of the medical program.
  • Attend rehearsals throughout the day and be on call during show warm-ups in the event of an emergency. Serve as a first responder and evaluate various medical ailments and follow us as necessary.
  • Effectively communicate the plan of care and medical clearance status regarding member participation to Corps Director, Corps Manager, and Caption Heads daily.
  • Advise the Corps Director and Caption Managers on the status and recommendations for member health through daily written updates.
  • Monitor and maintain an inventory of medical supplies. Communicate purchasing needs to the Operations Manager as they arise.
  • Will be an active participant in infection control in areas such as proper sanitation of work areas, good hand washing technique, decontamination of instruments/equipment, bus hygiene, jug and bottle cleaning etc.
  • Maintain confidential and protected patient information.
  • Perform all duties with the highest of ethical and professional standards.

LOCATION and SCHEDULE

The position will be structured primarily around the corps’ summer tour and will require travel with The Cadets Drum Corps. The summer training camp and tour origination point will be in the Worcester, MA area. Ideally, the Medical Administrator commits to working the entire tour. Scheduling flexibility to accommodate serious pre-existing personal or school-related commitments will be applied when possible.

COMPENSATION

Travel is provided to and from tour, and all transportation, housing and food will be provided. Volunteers and interns will be considered for this position, and compensation will be negotiated if applicable.

Medical Professional

In the role of Medical Professional, you will report directly to the Medical Administrator. You will also work closely with the Athletic Trainer to facilitate and manage the health needs of the corps membership for spring training and summer tour.

Responsibilities

  • Attend rehearsals throughout the day and be on call during show warm-ups in the event of an emergency. Serve as a first responder and evaluate various medical ailments and follow us as necessary.
  • Log and document all medical illness interactions and advise the Medical Administrator on the status and recommendations for member health through daily written updates.
  • Responsible for inventory of Medicine and First Aid bags including Member Med Bags, communicating all supply needs to the Tour Manager.
  • Organize, maintain, and dispense all first aid and over the counter supplies within your scope of practice during mealtimes. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snack) as well as logging all medicine administered.
  • Will be an active participant in infection control in areas such as proper sanitation of work areas, good hand washing technique, decontamination of instruments/equipment, bus hygiene, jug and bottle cleaning etc.
  • Make pharmacy runs to obtain members prescriptions, may also Chaperone members to urgent care and/or emergency room as needed make hospital/clinic runs, appointment runs to other health care providers when needed.
  • Maintain confidential and protected patient information.
  • Perform all duties with the highest of ethical and professional standards.

Athletic Trainer

The Cadets are looking for a certified athletic trainer to provide professional services for our performing arts organization for this summer. Our student athletes include 154+ brass, percussion and guard performers ages 16-22.

In the role of Athletic Trainer, you will report directly to the Medical Administrator. You will also work closely with the Medical Professional to facilitate and manage the health needs of the corps membership for pre-tour and summer tour. 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and implementation of an athletic training program required for a drum corps including: injury prevention programs, injury evaluations, injury management, injury treatment and rehabilitation, educational programs and counseling for member-athletes.
  • Provide patient education in the areas of sports injury prevention and care to include concussion management and more.
  • Provide input to staff regarding winter conditioning and summer fitness workout programs as requested.
  • Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would enhance the benefit of the athletic training program.
  • Attend rehearsals throughout the day and be on call during show warm-ups in the event of an emergency. Serve as a first responder and evaluate various injuries and medical ailments and follow us as necessary.
  • Effectively communicate the plan of care and medical clearance status regarding member participation to Corps Director, Corps Manager, and Caption Heads daily.
  • Log and document all medical injury interactions and advise the Medical Administrator on the status and recommendations for member health through daily written updates.
  • Monitor and assist in the hydration protocol including filling jugs, transporting to and from the field and refilling when necessary.
  • Responsible for inventory of Athletic Training supplies, communicating all supply needs to the Operations Manager.
  • Will be an active participant in infection control in areas such as proper sanitation of work areas, good hand washing technique, decontamination of instruments/equipment, bus hygiene, jug and bottle cleaning etc.

  • Perform all duties with the highest of ethical and professional standards utilizing the NATA Code of Ethics as the standard of evaluation.

Videographer

The Cadets are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated Videographer to assist the Cadets Arts & Entertainment Marketing Department in documenting the corps’ summer tourThe Cadets Videographer will attend and film rehearsals, performances, clinics, parades, competitions and exhibitions from July to August 2021, as well as edit and produce video content. Additionally, the Videographer will work closely with the Marketing Manager to assist with various digital content strategies. 

Responsibilities

  • Film daily videos on location with The Cadets
  • Ensure that equipment is present and working at all times
  • Document daily corps activities
  • Plan creative content and capture the drum corps activity from various perspectives
  • Develop a friendly rapport with staff, volunteers and members in order to convey the corps’ personalities and experiences on-screen
  • Edit footage in post-production
  • Travel with the corps (via bus), sleeping in designated staff sleeping areas

Location and Schedule

The position will be structured around the corps’ summer tour and will require travel with The Cadets Drum Corps. Required Equipment

  • The Videographer is responsible for providing all necessary camera equipment as well as computer editing hardware and software.
  • Additional equipment needs may be discussed with the Cadets Arts & Entertainment Chief Operating Officer as needed

Photographer

The Cadets are seeking a skilled Photographer to assist the Cadets Arts & Entertainment Marketing Department in documenting the corps’ summer tour. The Cadets Photographer will attend and document rehearsals, performances, clinics, parades, competitions and exhibitions from July to August 2021, as well as edit photos as needed. Additionally, the Photographer will work closely with the Marketing Manager to assist with various digital content strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Photograph The Cadets’ daily activities
  • Edit photos for the best possible end product
  • Post consistent daily content on The Cadets’ Instagram, including feed posts, stories and reels
  • Coordinate with the CAE Development Manager to assist with the Power The Cadets fundraiser by photographing members of the corps with a sign thanking donors for sponsoring each meal
  • Ensure that camera and any other equipment is present and working at all times
  • Plan creative content and capture the drum corps activity from various perspectives
  • Develop a friendly rapport with staff, volunteers and members in order to convey the corps’ personalities and experiences in images

CDL Driver

The Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps is in need of a CDL Driver for our Summer Tour.  In the role of CDL Driver you will report directly to the Transportation Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, verify and monitor the operational condition and safety of vehicle accessories and assigned truck and trailer on a daily basis including performing mandatory pre-trip and post trip inspections. Report findings to the Transportation Manager daily and correct any known issues that can be dealt with personally.
  • Assist/Inform the Transportation Manager about all regular maintenance so it can be completed in a timely fashion.
  • Immediately report any accidents that may occur, complete required reports and cooperate with investigating authorities in which vehicle is involved.
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicle. Interior and exterior cleanings will take place on Paid Non-Driving Days.
  • Maintain ELD Compliance including fuel logs, interstate mileage log and vehicle maintenance records. DOT Regulations must be adhered to at all times.  ELD Logging must be used in accordance with regulations. Submit all logs and paperwork to the Transportation Manager weekly.
  • Knowledge and practical use of the US Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations pertaining to the driving of Commercial Vehicles.
  • Obey all traffic laws, observe all mandatory safety regulations and Practice non-aggressive, defensive driving techniques. Attend driver meetings during the summer tour.
  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of driver’s cash bank/road tolls with all receipts and financial paperwork.
  • Consumption of alcohol or being under the influence of any illegal substances while with the program at a rehearsal facility, school campus, in your vehicle, or on tour will NOT be tolerated and is grounds for immediate dismissal.
  • Follow all COVID-19 Protocol as set forth by Corps Management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Safely, efficiently, and courteously drive tractor and trailer of at least 53’ in length on all public highways and required private property, including cities and mountainous regions in all weather conditions.
  • Work with corps personnel members of a TEAM. This requires the Driver to coordinate activities with others, and to function as a whole unit.
  • Reading and writing English communication skills.
  • Read and interpret maps, compass directions, 24-hour clock time, schedules, and procedural instructions.
  • Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to one year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience within the last 3 years involving the regular operation of a tractor and trailer on public streets and highway.
  • Possess and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License. Class A with Air Brakes endorsement minimum with no mechanical restrictions.
  • Possess and maintain a DOT physical.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
  • Provide a 36-month Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Any moving citations or chargeable accidents in the applicant’s driving history within 36 months prior to the application date will be evaluated and may be considered disqualifying.
  • Safety-sensitive job class. Employee in this class will be subject to random selection for alcohol or controlled substance testing.
  • Applicants must be at least 25 years of age or older.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Outdoor setting; driving a vehicle in variable traffic and weather conditions; majority of driving happens overnight (4 pm – 8 am); semi drivers will be able to sleep in the sleeper cab of their trucks, all meals are provided by the Corps; passes to shows will be available when drivers are off duty

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Hearing and speaking to exchange information; seeing to perform assigned duties; sitting for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate controls; kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to perform assigned duties, must be able to lift 25 lbs.

LOCATION and SCHEDULE 

The position will be structured around the corps’ summer tour and will require travel with The Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps. The summer training camp and tour origination point will be in the Allentown, PA area.  CDL Driver commits to working the entire two-week tour.

COMPENSATION 

This is a paid position, with tour travel, housing, transportation, and food provided. The successful candidate will be provided transportation to and from the tour origination location.
