Dr. Fabian returns to the The Cadets as one of the Holy Bass technicians. Sarah has an extensive background in the drum and bugle corps circuit. Before teaching, Sarah was a five-year marching member of DCI marching with Jersey Surf and Carolina Crown. She was also a four-year member of the world-class indoor drumline, United Percussion. She has had the privilege of teaching at the Colts, Crossmen, Reading Buccaneers, United Percussion, as well as numerous high schools and colleges.
Outside of the marching arts. Dr. Fabian serves as the Director of Athletic Bands, Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Percussion at Gardner-Webb University. Among her duties, she directs the Marching Bulldogs and pep bands as well as teaches courses in music education, applied percussion, and percussion ensemble. A passionate advocate for music education at all levels, Fabian is internationally active as a clinician, educator, conductor, adjudicator, presenter and performer.
Fabian earned her Ph.D. in Music Education from George Mason University. Before that, she graduated from both Towson University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education with a concentration in Percussion and Johns Hopkins Peabody Conservatory where she earned a Master’s in Music Education.
Fabian has the privilege of being endorsed by Vic Firth sticks, Zildjan cymbals, Balter mallets, and Remo Drumheads. She is also a member of the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA), the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), the North Carolina Music Educators Association, the Iowa Music Educators Association, International Society for Music Educators (ISME), and the Percussive Arts Society (PAS).
