Being brought up around music and musicians all his life, Jamil has developed a unique approach to movement and teaching movement. He began his marching arts career playing snare drum for the drumline at Miami Senior High School. From there, he dove into movement his senior year when he joined the FIU Color Guard.
After graduating, Jamil continued to develop his teaching skills as director of the Miami Senior High Color Guard for about 8 years. Continuing his education training at multiple studios and at school as he worked full time. He later moved on to teaching the FIU Color Guard and Winter Guard from (2016-2020) as their movement specialist where he shaped their overall vocabulary, quality, and technique, helping in leading them to a world championship, and several other special awards. Jamil has also made guest appearances at different high schools in the circuit. He joined The Cadets Visual Staff in 2020.
In his dance career, Jamil has performed and trained in several dance companies in Miami. He is well versed and trained in styles including ballet, jazz, contemporary, street jazz, and others. He has performed in Latin award shows such as Premio Los Nuestro, and has danced for artists such as J Balvin, Mark Anthony, and Greeicy and has choreographed for artists such as KC and the Sunshine Band and more. He currently has his AA in dance and currently continues his studies towards his BFA at New World School of the Arts.
