DCI AND CADETS TO CANCEL 2020 TOUR, FOCUS ON 2021
With the recent announcement from Drum Corps International canceling the 2020 summer tour, The Cadets will concurrently cancel all touring plans for 2020 and focus entirely on the 2021 season.
My decision to cancel the in-person March camp was driven by our mandate to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all who participate in The Cadets, particularly during this fluid situation with COVID-19 and physical distancing. The Cadets will continue to find inventive and creative ways to strengthen our educational process—for example, The Cadets Brass conducted a successful March camp online which allowed the members to be taught virtually by The Cadets Brass faculty located across the country. It is moments like this that illustrate that, no matter what, the music goes on, even in the toughest times.
Still, we have many details to work out as a result of the cancellation of the 2020 tour and the transition into 2021. I ask that you remain patient as these details are discussed and the resolution is ultimately communicated to all members, staff, volunteers, and sponsors. In the meantime, please continue to follow all protocols set forth by the CDC to help slow down the spread of COVID-19.
It has been my honor and pleasure supporting the members, staff, and volunteers that have given selflessly to the 2020 Cadets. To our donors who have contributed to the mission and vision of The Cadets, I can’t begin to thank you enough for your on-going support and generosity. The members of the 2020 Cadets have certainly set a very high standard and I’m looking forward to building upon that energy and strength as we move forward into 2021.
Be safe, and be well, and be sure to check back often as we unwind from 2020 and begin our planning for the 2021 season.
Sincerely,
Denise Bonfiglio
