CAE BOARD REPORT: QUARTERS 1-2
Cadets Arts & Entertainment, Inc. (CAE) is a new organization built on the rich and celebrated history of the 87-year-old Cadets program. The CAE Board of Directors is committed to full transparency and will regularly communicate its activities to The Cadets’ passionate, worldwide community of students, parents, staff, alumni, and fans. This is a summary of the Board’s recent activities as well as goals for the remainder of the fiscal year.
Quarters 1 and 2 Board Report for Fiscal Year 2021 (November-April)
During the first half of the fiscal year, the CAE Board of Directors focused on putting in place the processes and procedures to deliver the 2021 Cadets program while protecting the health and safety of our students, staff, and volunteers.
In conjunction with DCI and other member corps, plans were finalized for conducting an abbreviated tour, culminating in the corps’ planned participation in the DCI Celebration performances in Indianapolis August 12-14.
Committees of the Board supported the CEO, staff, and volunteers through the implementation of health and safety protocols; the development and delivery of safety, health, equality, and inclusiveness training to all program participants; and the refinement of the organization’s initial FY21 Budget.
The Board has emphasized continued growth of The Cadets’ community. Board members supported the office by conducting outreach to alumni, fans, and supporters during the highly successful Holiday and Maroon & Gold campaigns. The Cadets Alumni Experience Committee finalized plans for the Homecoming Weekend, to be held October 9-10, and began planning for future events in support of the corps.
The Board has agreed to the following objectives for the second half of FY21:
- Deliver The Cadets program at a high level of excellence for the education and enjoyment of our students and to inspire and delight our alumni and supporters.
- Develop a Strategic Plan focused on the strengthening and growing The Cadets in 2022 and beyond.
- Continue building the Board by recruiting additional Board and Committee members to augment and strengthen our skills and capabilities.
- Continue to create the institutional and business capacity of CAE by identifying and developing additional sources of income.
2021 marks the 87th anniversary of The Cadets. At the time of this report, we are delighted to report that 140 student performers are gathered along with dozens of dedicated staff and volunteers, all hard at work making The 2021 Cadets a reality. As we celebrate the return of the Cadets to the field, we thank all of you for your continued support.
