Jill Updike returns to The Cadets in her role as Volunteer Coordinator for the 2023 season. She is a corporate human resources executive, the parent of a Cadets alumnus, and a Cadets volunteer since 2017 who brings a wealth of skill and knowledge to the team.
Professionally, Jill is currently the Head of Total Rewards for Children's National Medical Center, an internationally ranked pediatric healthcare and research organization. Her role is to envision and implement Total Rewards strategies which support the heroes who charge forward in our mission to bring health and well-being to all children. Prior to her current position, Jill was the Assistant Vice President of Total Rewards strategies for Phoebe Health System. She has also worked as an Executive HR Consultant for several clients and was the Corporate Director of Total Reward for the University of Maryland Medical System.
Jill has extensive experience as a volunteer, first serving with Cadets2 in 2017 before volunteering with The Cadets from 2018 through the present. She completed the full Cadets tour in 2019 and 2021, served on the Diversity Equality and Inclusion (DEI) Committee in 2020, and was The Cadets Volunteer Coordinator since 2022. She also held leadership roles in all Middle and High School Band boosters throughout both kids' time (2009 to 2018). She currently serves on the Advisory Board for The Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra and is a graduate of the Leadership Baltimore County program where she participates on the Strategic Alliances Committee, engaging in many philanthropic activities for area organizations including March of Dimes, American Kidney Foundation, and the Community Assistance Network.
"At heart, I'm a band and guard DCI wannabe!" she said. "I do this because it helps me feel like I can have that DCI experience."
