HOMECOMING WEEKEND: A LOOK AT 2019 & 2021
HOMECOMING WEEKEND PREVIEW & A LOOK BACK AT 2019
“It’s better than the best family reunion,” said Cadets Alumnus John Hannigan, thinking back to The Cadets Homecoming Weekend in the fall of 2019.
As plans come into view for Homecoming Weekend 2021, we can’t help but reminisce about the wonderful event series that brought Cadets Alumni and supporters together on the same weekend in 2019. At the time, attendees couldn’t have anticipated that it would be two years before The Cadets Family would come together again, but the wait is finally almost over!
Mark your calendar, save the dates, and get excited about this year’s event series! Detailed plans will be announced in the coming weeks.
HALL OF FAME INDUCTION DINNER
In 2019, inductees to The Cadets Hall of Fame Class of 2019 were honored at a sentimental Induction Ceremony. The event honored Michelle Owens, Cheryl Philhower-Gillick and Ken Conklin. We don’t know who will be chosen for this year’s class, but we DO know that the 2021 Hall of Fame Ceremony will be combined with the ever-popular Beefsteak Dinner! It’s an East Coast tradition and a Cadets event to be remembered. This year’s event will honor our Class of 2020 and Class of 2021.
HIGH-ROLLER LUNCHEON
A High-Roller Luncheon was held at FASCINO Restaurant in Montclair, N.J. as a way for generous Cadets supporters to wine and dine and celebrate the corps. This fabulous $500/plate event is now called The Cadets Legacy Luncheon. Location and legacy honorees TBA in just a couple of weeks!
MEMORIAL MASS AT MOST HOLY NAME CHURCH
Always a moving favorite is The Cadets Holy Name Memorial Mass, held at Most Holy Name Church in Garfield. A truly wonderful tribute to the corps’ roots, this service features current members and alumni of the corps and honors Cadets eternal.
CADETS HOMECOMING DINNER
Finally, the weekend finale is one you won’t soon forget! Held at The Brownstone in Garfield, the menu alone at our 2019 Homecoming Weekend Gala blew our guests away. “After the cocktail hour, people were told dinner would be served, and they were stunned,” Cadets Alumna, Board Member and long-time supporter Cindi DeVivo recalled. “The appetizers were so fabulous that no one realized dinner was still coming! Then they brought out desserts and people didn’t know what to do. It’s such an incredible event, and so much fun,” she said.
Details for the 2021 Homecoming Gala are coming soon, and we have some very special plans in the works! You won’t want to miss it.
