Cadets Announce New Volunteer Coordinator for 2022

The Cadets organization would like to say a very special thank-you to Cheryl Rogers (second from right in the image above), who has recently taken a step back from her role as Volunteer Coordinator, a volunteer position with the corps. Cheryl served as a Cadets Volunteer, supporter, a positive force for The Cadets, and a cheerleader to the members for the last 11 years, ever since her daughter first wore the uniform for the 2011 World Championship season. On behalf of everyone associated with Cadets Arts & Entertainment, we thank Cheryl for the invaluable contributions she has made for our corps.

With excitement building for the start of the 2022 season, The Cadets are now pleased to welcome Jill Updike as the corps' new Volunteer Coordinator. (Jill is pictured above, third from left.)

Since 2018, Jill could be found running around The Cadets' food truck and uniform maintenance areas. She traveled with the corps for the entire 2019 season (fulfilling her life-long dream of participating in a DCI tour). In 2020, she served as an active member of the corps' Equality and Inclusion Committee before joining The Cadets in person once again for the 2021 season.

"I know firsthand how vitally important volunteers are to this organization," Jill said. "Through my experiences with the corps and with support from the administrative staff, I believe I can support the effort by planning and advocating for volunteer needs," she said.

If you are able to help out at The Cadets' primary audition camp in Salem, N.J. Dec. 17-19, please email Jill Updike at jupdike@cadets.org, or fill out our Volunteer Interest Form here.

Jill comes to The Cadets with many years of experience volunteering in school and community organizations. She has served in President, Treasurer, and Membership Chair capacities for the middle and high school band boosters programs. She also served as a volunteer for the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra and on many PTA committees since her children were in elementary school.

In her professional life, Jill serves as an executive human resources leader for a health system in Georgia and is currently participating in the Leadership Baltimore County program, whose mission is to bring high achieving community leaders together to become a driving force for positive change in Baltimore. Jill is passionate about leveraging cheerfulness, humor, and problem-solving skills to make peoples' experiences the best they can be in all communities in which she serves.
