‘Twas a night during drum corps, and a warm summer breeze
'Was quietly rustling the highway-side trees.
I drove on in silence, was just heading home,
When a glorious sight made me feel less alone.
Bright, shiny buses and trucks in a row;
I counted them all - eleven vehicles in tow.
Gladness welled up, for in that moment I knew
They were heading to my town, my maroon and gold crew.
The best part of all: I had given some funds
To help buy a new truck, and spruce up old ones.
In the joy of that moment,
though they could not hear
My heart was so glad that alone I did cheer:
Now Brass Bus, now Drum Bus, now Guard Bus and Pick-up
On Staff Bus, on van, on Equipment, and Food Trucks!
The lesson? Give what you can this holiday season,
So summer next you will know you are the reason
That the “Always Look Good” mantra still rung true
When The Cadets came to your town in 2022.
