Brass, Guard & Visual Caption Managers Return for 2023

Cadets Arts & Entertainment is pleased to announce the return of Brass, Guard and Visual leadership for 2023.

"We are thrilled that this talented group of accomplished educators will be back with us this summer," said Vicki Ferrence Ray, Interim CEO for The Cadets. "They not only bring a wealth of knowledge in their fields, but as Cadets Alumni, they also bring a passion for the corps and a connection to our tradition that will be instilled in this new generation of Cadets."

Dr. Matt Stratton will return to lead the CBrass team again this year. Stratton is a Cadets alumnus who esteems both the corps' tradition and brass pedagogy. 

Dr. Stratton holds the Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education with Performer’s Certificate from the State University of New York College at Fredonia, the Master of Music in Tuba Performance and Doctor of Music in Brass Pedagogy from the Indiana University Jacob’s School of Music. He is a Professor of Music and holds the Charlene Hawkins Chair of Instrumental Music at Olivet Nazarene University, where he serves as the Director of Bands in the School of Music. Stratton will be assisted by Seth Murphy and a talented team of instructors from acclaimed music programs across the country.

Leading The Cadets Color Guard Staff this year, Alumnus Enrique Perez is back with a talented, high energy team. Perez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Education from Florida International University. He now proudly serves his alma mater as a faculty member and Director of Guards, where he has led the FIU indoor color guard program to earn two WGI gold medals. Read his full bio here.

Another Cadets Alumnus, Joshua Brenneis, will return as caption manager for The Cadets' visual team. Josh brings a wealth of skill and knowledge in The Cadets' trademark marching style with a modern technique. He is a visual clinician, adjudicator and drill designer from Coral Springs, Fla., who works with highly acclaimed marching music programs across the country. He is also currently the Visual Caption Head and Visual Designer of STRYKE Wynds, as well as a member of the creative team.
